NHL Rumors: Patrick Kane to the New York Rangers
According to Larry Brooks of the New York Post, the Chicago Blackhawks and New York Rangers could pull off this season's blockbuster trade. Brooks sees Patrick Kane ending up in the Big Apple with the Rangers.
Brooks sees New York offering up a package that could entice the Blackhawks to pull the trigger. It's worth noting Kane does hold a no-movement clause, however some close to him feel like he would agree to joining the Rangers if it was presented to him.
Brooks mentions the likes of Kaapo Kakko, Vitali Kravtsov, Nils Lundqvist and a 2022 first-round pick heading to the Windy City in the deal. This would of course reunite Kane with his favorite line mate of all-time, Artemi Panarin.
This trade has come up in the past, as far as Kane going to New York, so Brooks may be on to something. However, due to the hard salary cap, either the Blackhawks are going to retain 50% of Kane's contract or expect to see the Rangers include one bad contract back to Chicago.
Brooks went on to mention this about the Rangers:
The team is not complete. Fortification is needed. A defenseman or two will need to be added. Depth will need to be added for a long run in the tournament. And there is a need for a top-six right wing. That is the need that would be filled by Patrick Kane.
Can you see this happening or is Larry Brooks completely lost?
