Philadelphia Flyers Claim Defenseman Off Waivers

The Philadelphia Flyers have claimed defenseman Kevin Connauton off waivers from the Florida Panthers.

Connauton suited up in 13 games with Florida this season and failed to record a point. Yet, even with this being the case, he still sported a plus-4 rating, so he has been defensively responsibility. Overall, this is a good addition for Philadelphia's depth and it'll be intriguing to see if the 31-year-old is able to wiggle his way on to the bottom-pair.

It isn't surprising to see the Flyers being active with waivers. After a very solid start to the regular season, they now have an 8-11-4 record and have lost nine straight contests. Although Connauton shouldn't be expected to save the team, having someone new in the lineup could be beneficial.

In 334 career games between the Dallas Stars, Columbus Blue Jackets, Arizona Coyotes, Colorado Avalanche and Panthers, Connauton has 27 goals, 50 assists and 77 points.
