Philadelphia Flyers Fire Head Coach Alain Vigneault

The Philadelphia Flyers have seen enough disappointment for one season as the team has decided to make a change behind their bench. Head coach Alain Vigneault has been fired by the hockey club.

No word yet on who is replacing Vigneault, but after a 8-10-4 start to the 2021-22 campaign, general manager Chuck Fletcher was left with no choice but to make a move. The Flyers join the Vancouver Canucks as two teams who have made drastic changes in the past 24 hours.

It was supposed to be a contending year for the Flyers and their start would suggest they are a long way from a playoff force. Fletcher made a number of big trades and brought in some talent via free agency but unfortunately for whatever reasons, it has not worked out so far in the city of Brotherly Love.

The Flyers were pounded 7-1 by the Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday, losing their eighth in a row and this appears to be the straw which broke the camel's back. Expect to see Vigneault land on his feet as he's regarded as one of the best coaches in the game and we will surely see him behind another NHL bench in the very near future.
