Robin Lehner Backs Out of Olympics for Team Sweden
Vegas Golden Knights netminder Robin Lehner has informed the management for Team Sweden's Olympic hockey team he has taken his name out of the running and will not be attending the games.
The decision comes for health concerns and Lehner wanted to be the first to let Sweden's management know as he didn't want them to hear through the grape vine. Lehner added that the decision was a collective one between him and his psychiatrist.
The 30-year-old veteran goalie has been an open book about his mental health issues and he's not ashamed to speak about it and show support for others. Lehner deals with bipolar disorder and addiction.
Look for Sweden to lean heavy on Jacob Markstrom who is having a tremendous season for the Calgary Flames. He'll surely be the starter, with both Linus Ullmark of the Boston Bruins and Anton Forsberg of the Ottawa Senators who are likely to battle it out for the backup role.
Took long time to make decision with my psychiatrist and family. My well being have too come first and being locked down and not knowing what happens if you test positive is to much of a risk for me. Sweden will have a great team and Markström is a beast.Hope people understand ❤️
