Seattle Kraken: 2 Biggest Surprises Of The Season So Far

The majority of NHL teams have already played 20 games this season, so we are starting to get a better understanding of what to expect from them moving forward. There have been certain players who have been big surprises thus far and it feels fair to shine a light on them. In this series, we will be looking at two from each team who certainly can be classified as that.

In this piece, we will be looking at the NHL's newest franchise - the Seattle Kraken. It's been a very hard start for them, as they have a 9-13-2 record and are likely not going to be a playoff team. A lot of players have been struggling, but these two are actually performing better than they did last season with their former franchises.

Jamie Oleksiak: Jamie Oleksiak is adjusting very well to his new team. The 6'7" defenseman has seen an increase of offensive production with the Kraken, as he has a goal and 10 points in 24 games. He is just four points away from tying his career-high and has plenty of time to do so. However, what's even more impressive is that he sports a plus-5 rating. Not too many players on Seattle are plus players.

Jordan Eberle: The Kraken selected Jordan Eberle during the Expansion Draft and viewed him as a solid top-six winger for them. So far, however, he's honestly provided more than most would have expected. In 22 games, he has an impressive 11 goals and 16 points. In 55 games last season with the New York Islanders, he had only 16 goals and has had under 20 goals in each of the last four seasons. This is fantastic to see from the 31-year-old winger and it would be awesome if he keeps it up from here.

Check out our last piece on the San Jose Sharks. In our next installment, we will be discussing the Vegas Golden Knights.
