Senators Getting Young Defenseman Back
The Ottawa Senators have taken Erik Brannstrom off injured reserve. With this, he is set to return to the lineup.
Brannstrom sustained a broken hand back in the middle of November. Due to the severity of his injury, it was initially expected that he would be out for at least two months. Yet, he has recovered faster than expected. This is perfect timing for the Senators, as they have multiple other defensemen out with injuries.
This season has been a rough one for Brannstrom, though. The Senators shockingly made him start the season in the AHL with the Belleville Senators. In nine games, he had a goal and two assists. He's also played two games with Ottawa, but did not record a point in either contest.
When seeing as how Brannstrom just had 13 points in 30 games with Ottawa last season, many expected him to take that big leap for this campaign. When looking at the Senators' roster now, it seems like a big chance for him to do just that. There is a spot for the taking with the team waiving Michael Del Zotto.
