St. Louis Blues' Goaltender Out

The St. Louis Blues have placed goaltender Jordan Binnington in COVID protocol.

As a result of Binnington's absence, they have called up goaltender Charlie Lindgren from the Springfield Thunderbirds, but he won't join them until Friday. Due to this, the Blues will have an emergency backup goaltender for Thursday night's contest against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Binnington is St. Louis' number one goalie, so naturally, him having to miss time is very bad news for them. Furthermore, they play the Lightning and then the Florida Panthers twice during their next three games, so their schedule certainly isn't easy.

In 16 starts this season, Binnington has done quite well. He currently sports an 8-5-3 record, 2.80 GAA and .912 SV%. With that, he's a big reason why the Blues are second place in the Central Division.

This is a chance for Lindgren to leave a solid impression with the Blues, if he of course ends up getting to play. In 10 games with Springfield this season, he has an 8-1-1 record, 2.16 GAA and .925 SV%. That's not bad numbers at all for the 27-year-old.
