Stars' GM Confirms Ben Bishop's Career Is Over
Early on Saturday, it was announced that the Dallas Stars recalled goaltender Ben Bishop from his conditioning stint and moved him to LTIR. That was certainly concerning enough to hear, but now GM Jim Nill has confirmed that the 35-year-old's career is over.
After more than a year trying to return from knee surgery, Stars goaltender Ben Bishop’s career is over, general manager Jim Nill said Saturday morning. https://t.co/uGH2BCmVuh

Bishop played one game during his stint with the Texas Stars and allowed eight goals on 34 shots.
Bishop's degenerative knee injury is sadly just too severe for him to continue playing. It kept him out of action for the entirety of the 2020-21 season, so all hockey fans were rooting for him during his attempted comeback. It's truly hard to hear that this is the end of the road for him.
Bishop had an excellent NHL career and was among the top goaltenders in the league during his prime years. In 413 career games, he had a 222-128-36 record, 2.32 GAA and .921 SV%. He also participated in the All-Star Game in 2016 and was named to the Second All-Star Team in 2016 and 2019.
Although Bishop was not able to return to the NHL, he deserves so much praise for getting so close to. Congrats on an awesome career, Ben!
