Stars' Tyler Seguin Opens Up About Struggles

Dallas Stars center Tyler Seguin hasn't felt quite right since coming back from hip surgery. He's managed to be a productive piece for the Stars but he recently admitted he's aware he isn't the same player he used to be.

Seguin missed almost all of last season and underwent hip and labral repair in November of 2020 and then only a short time later had knee surgery. His leg was a mess and his quad muscle basically had disappeared and needed to be built again. Crazy to think a hockey player had to build his entire quad muscle but that was the case for Seguin who went through some rigorous training to even get back out on the ice.

In the 26 games he's managed to play this season, the Stars forward has seven goals and four assists. It's his worst season to date and it's been frustrating to say the least. Seguin opened up about his struggles in the Dallas Morning News and had this to say:

Sometimes, you get a little frustrated not having the same kind of game I have in the past. Some things that used to click in my head and the opportunities I would get, I haven’t really seen this year. That’s all I know how to do, is when things aren’t going a certain way, it’s 'Okay, let’s grease it up. Let things go off you. Go to those dirty areas. I’m still trying to find that balance of muck-and-grinder and finding that fluid style to my game that I’ve had

Seguin went on to say he's finally starting to feel like himself this week and hopes his game gets back to the level we are all used to seeing. His $9.85 million cap hit runs through the 2026-27 season, so you know Dallas is thinking the same thing.
