NHL Rumors: Bruins and Kraken Could Finalize DeBrusk Deal

One team to watch out for in the Jake DeBrusk sweepstakes out of Boston, the Seattle Kraken. Rumor has them contacting the Bruins about their disgruntled forward and a potential one-for-one swap.

Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet could see Mason Appleton being a target for the Bruins and someone the Kraken may be interested in moving. After being a part of one of the best third lines in hockey in Winnipeg, it has not gone well for Appleton in his first season in Seattle. He's 25, a pending restricted free-agent and someone who the Bruins could use on their third line come playoff time. The 6'2 winger only has three points in 11 games so far as part of the Kraken after last season where he put up 25 points in 56 games. Appleton is signed this season for $900,000, so the Bruins could set themselves up to shed some salary in this potential deal.

As for DeBrusk, the Kraken aren't the only ones snooping around the asking price. The St Louis Blues, New York Rangers, Calgary Flames, Vancouver Canucks, Edmonton Oilers and Colorado Avalanche have all apparently made contact with Bruins' management.

After a conversation in the summer that was supposed to smooth things over, it has not gone well this season for DeBrusk in Boston. This past weekend he and his agent formally requested a trade from the Bruins and now we wait to see where he ends up. Seems like the process won't be a long one and drawn out. Expect to see Boston pull the trigger on a deal in the coming week, and Seattle could end up the sweepstakes winners.
