Two Defensemen Placed On Waivers

The Vancouver Canucks have placed defenseman Ashton Sautner on waivers, while the Arizona Coyotes have done the same thing with defenseman Vladislav Provolnev.

Sautner was just signed by the Canucks to a two-way contract on Saturday morning, but now with Vancouver's weekend tilt against the Toronto Maple Leafs postponed, the Canucks are likely not going to utilize him. The defenseman was initially under an AHL contract with the Abbotsford Canucks this season. In 18 games with the team, he has an assist. He has also played 23 NHL games with Vancouver and recorded three helpers. However, the last time he got into NHL action was during the 2019-20 campaign.

Provolnev is just beginning his professional hockey career in North America. In 17 games this season with the Tucson Roadrunners, he has an assist. With Severstal Cherepovets of the KHL last season, he recorded 20 points in 48 games.

Perhaps we could see these two defenseman claimed, as multiple teams are dealing with both illnesses and injuries. We'll have to wait and see on that front.
