Vegas Golden Knights: 2 Biggest Surprises Of The Season So Far

The majority of NHL teams have already played 20 games this season, so we are starting to get a better understanding of what to expect from them moving forward. There have been certain players who have been big surprises thus far and it feels fair to shine a light on them. In this series, we will be looking at two from each team who certainly can be classified as that.

In this piece, we will be looking at the Vegas Golden Knights. Although they have had dealt with numerous injuries this campaign already, they still have a respectable 13-10-0 record and are trending in the right direction. These two players have been very pleasant surprises for them thus far.

Laurent Brossoit: After trading Marc-Andre Fleury over the summer, the Golden Knights signed Laurent Brossoit to be their backup. Although a Robin Lehner-Brossoit tandem certainly looked weaker on paper, the latter has been spectacular with his new team so far. In six games, he sports a 4-1-0 record, 2.46 GAA and .921 SV%. If he can keep this up as the season continues, his $2.325 million cap hit will be a real steal.

Chandler Stephenson: Chandler Stephenson just continues to get better for Vegas each season. Although the Golden Knights received criticism for having him as their 1C, this season he's taken another big step forward. In 23 games thus far, he has nine goals and 21 points. He had a breakout season last year when he had 35 points in 51 games, but he's doing even better this year. Once Jack Eichel is officially ready to go, a one-two punch of him and Stephenson would be lethal if the latter keeps this kind of production up.
