Video: Flyers' Cam Atkinson Records Hat Trick

Philadelphia Flyers forward Cam Atkinson had a game to remember on Tuesday night against the New Jersey Devils. The veteran winger recorded a hat trick with three excellent goals.

This was exactly the kind of performance that the Flyers needed from Atkinson. Philadelphia is in need of a big winning streak, as a 10-game losing streak has dropped them significantly in the standings. However, with their 6-1 victory over the Devils, they now have won three straight and now sport an 11-12-4 record.

Atkinson has been a nice fit for the Flyers so far. The 32-year-old winger was acquired by them during the summer from the Columbus Blue Jackets and hasn't been disappointing in the slightest. In 27 games, he now has 12 goals and 19 total points.

As the season continues, it will be interesting to see if the Flyers are able to get themselves back into playoff contention. On paper, they look like a team who should be able to, but we will have to wait and see. If Atkinson can continue to have splendid performances like this moving forward, it will absolutely heighten their chances.
