Video: Lightning's Cernak Beats Blues' Binnington From Center Ice
Tuesday night provided hockey fans with another wacky goal. Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Erik Cernak beat St. Louis Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington after the dumping the puck into the offensive zone from center ice. It would take a few funny bounces before getting past the 28-year-old.
This was actually Cernak's first game back in almost a month, so it was nice to see a bounce like that go his way. The 24-year-old defenseman was out with an upper-body injury and was missed in Tampa's lineup. Interestingly. this also was his first goal of the 2021-22 season, so it was an entertaining way for him to break the ice.
Although Binnington certainly wishes he could have that one back, that bounce was certainly hard to judge. Thus, he shouldn't be criticized too harshly. Weird goals like this one sometimes just happen.
