Video: Sabres' Ethan Prow Scores First NHL Goal
Due to the Buffalo Sabres being hit extremely hard by COVID-19, it opened the door for 29-year-old defenseman Ethan Prow to make his NHL debut on Wednesday night. He clearly took advantage of the opportunity, as he scored his first NHL goal after banging in the rebound.
Even though the Sabres would fall to the New Jersey Devils by a 4-3 final score, it's hard not to feel happy for Prow. It is extremely rare for someone to make their NHL debut at 29 years old and for the most part, he didn't look out of place. After a goal like this one, perhaps the Sabres will give him an extended stay with the NHL club.
Prow has had a lot of success at the AHL level. During the 2018-19 campaign with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, he recorded 50 points in 74 games. He also has three goals and 14 points as alternate captain of the Rochester Americans this season. Therefore, he is a defenseman who is capable of producing well offensively in lower leagues.
Even if Prow's time with the Sabres comes to an end soon, this was truly an unforgettable moment for him.
