Video: Sharks' Meier Bats Puck Out Of Air And Scores
San Jose Sharks forward Timo Meier scored himself a beautiful goal on Tuesday night against the Arizona Coyotes. With the puck in midair, the 25-year-old winger batted it with his backhand and successfully got it past goaltender Scott Wedgewood.
Everything has been going well for Meier this season. In 26 games, he now has 13 goals and 31 total points. In fact, he now has matched the 31 points he had last season in 54 games. Furthermore, he is on pace to have his first over a point-per-game season. His best campaign occurred during the 2018-19 season, as he had 30 goals and 66 points in 78 games.
This was a wacky game in general, too. The Sharks would defeat the Coyotes in the shootout by an 8-7 final score. It isn't very common to see 15 goals scored between two teams in one contest, so it certainly was one for offense lovers to watch. Although the Coyotes lost, both Lawson Crouse and Phil Kessel had themselves four-point games.
Back to Meier, though, this was a very nice goal. Perhaps he participated in batting practice during the offseason.
