Video: Zach Parise Scores First With Islanders
In his 23rd game of the season, forward Zach Parise scored his first goal as a member of the New York Islanders. It was a nice one, too, as he beat New Jersey Devils goaltender Akira Schmid five-hole on the breakaway. It just so happened to be a short handed goal and the eventual game-winner, too.
Parise hasn't been off to the hottest of starts with his new team, as he has just the goal and five total points on the campaign. However, perhaps scoring a goal like this one could end up being the spark that helps the 37-year-old winger get back on track.
As a collective unit, the Islanders have struggled immensely this season. At this juncture, they have a 7-11-5 record and are at the bottom of the Metropolitan Division. However, Parise scoring this goal and securing them the win is something to build off of from here. Keep in mind, this is a team who was just one win away from making the Stanley Cup Final.
Nevertheless, congrats on your first goal as an Islander, Zach!
