Washington Capitals Receive Marvelous News

The Washington Capitals have announced that star center Nicklas Backstrom is set to make his season debut on Wednesday night against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Backstrom has been out with a left hip injury that he sustained during the offseason. His presence was certainly missed in Washington's lineup, but now, the 34-year-old center is finally ready to go. From here, Washington's offense should only improve.

Backstrom has been the team's top center for over a decade, so naturally, his return is massive for the team. He is also coming off of another very strong season, as he scored 15 goals and recorded 53 points in 55 games. It'll be interesting to see how he follows that up this campaign.

Even with Backstrom out, however, the Capitals have still been very good. At this time, they sport a 17-5-6 record and are first in the Metropolitan Division. From here, they should only get better, as Alex Ovechkin has his playmaker back.

It's great news for the hockey world that Backstrom is back. Let's see how he performs in his season debut.
