Winnipeg Jets Place Blake Wheeler On LTIR
Blake Wheeler's injury is going to keep him out for a good amount of time, as the Winnipeg Jets have now placed the 35-year-old on Long-Term Injured Reserve.
Wheeler was initially injured in December 10th contest against the Vancouver Canucks. The veteran winger left the game early while grabbing his knee. It was apparent that he was in clear pain and it looked very likely that his injury was a serious one.
Now that he's officially on LTIR, it is safe to assume that he won't be back for multiple weeks at least. However, due to the lack of specific details about his injury, he very well could find him out for over a month at a minimum. At this juncture, all we can do is wait and see how he progresses.
In 22 games this season, Wheeler has a goal and 17 points. Although the goals haven't been going in for the veteran, he certainly has been a major part of Winnipeg's offense with all of those helpers. With that, he's tied for fifth in points on the team with Mark Scheifele and Nate Schmidt.
Lastly, we'd like to wish Blake a speedy recovery.
