Avalanche Provide Update On Nathan MacKinnon

Colorado Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar told reporters that Nathan MacKinnon has a facial fracture and concussion. Due to this, he's been ruled out for the next three games and is questionable for the All-Star Game.

MacKinnon was injured after receiving a hit by Boston Bruins forward Taylor Hall. Unfortunately, MacKinnon's stick hit him in the face as a result of the contact, which led to his current injury.

The Avalanche will miss MacKinnon in their lineup immensely while he's out. In 31 games this season, the 26-year-old center has nine goals to go along with 34 assists. It's once again been a dominant season for the superstar but now it sadly has to be put on hold.

Although losing MacKinnon is obviously bad news for the Avalanche, they thankfully are in an amazing place in the standings. At this time, they have a 30-8-3 record and are in first place in the Central Division with 63 points. Only the Florida Panthers have more points than them in the entire NHL, but the Avalanche also have three games in hand. That's how ridiculously good Colorado has been this season.

Alas, here's to hoping MacKinnon doesn't have to miss any more time after these three games are up. The sport is always more entertaining when he's on the ice.
