Blackhawks To Be Without Captain
Chicago Blackhawks forward Jonathan Toews has been placed in concussion protocol.
Toews sustained his injury in Wednesday's game against the Detroit Red Wings.
In 43 games this season, Toews has four goals, 15 assists, and a minus-11 rating. The longtime Blackhawks captain missed the entirety of the 2020-21 season due to Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome, so it's a bit understandable why his offense has gone this campaign. This also makes it hard to hear that he will have to be sidelined again.
The Blackhawks are not close to being in playoff contention, as they sport a 16-20-7 record and are seventh in the Central Division. Toews having to miss time may be even more of a reason for them to begin selling now. This is especially true if he ends up having to miss a decent chunk of time.
Alas, here's to hoping Toews has a quick recovery and can get back on the ice soon.
