Buffalo Sabres Lose Two Players

The Buffalo Sabres have placed Kyle Okposo and Casey Fitzgerald in COVID-19 protocol.

Okposo has been having an excellent start to the 2021-22 season. In 33 games, he has seven goals and 21 total points. With this, he is tied for second in scoring with Rasmus Dahlin on the Sabres. It's been wonderful to see the 33-year-old rebound so nicely this campaign, but for now, it will be paused.

It's hard not to feel bad for Fitzgerald. The 24-year-old defenseman was drafted by the Sabres with the 86th-overall pick of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft and finally was getting his first taste of NHL action. In four games with Buffalo, he has an assist and five penalty minutes. With the Rochester Americans this season, he scored four goals and had three assists in 21 games. He also played a very physical game, as evidenced by his 37 penalty minutes.

The Sabres are scheduled to play their next game on January 6th against the San Jose Sharks. There's a very good chance that these two won't be participating in it.
