Buffalo Sabres Place Forward On Injured Reserve
The Buffalo Sabres have placed Zemgus Girgensons on injured reserve. His specific injury has yet to be revealed.
Girgensons has had some major injury trouble, as he of course missed all of the 2020-21 season due to a hamstring injury. However, he hasn't looked too rusty this campaign, as he has seven goals and five assists in 34 contests. If he can keep this pace of production up from here, he should be able to have his best offensive season since the 2014-15 campaign.
Although the Sabres have torn down their roster multiple times since Girgensons has played there, he has yet to be traded. The 2012 first-round pick has spent the entirety of his NHL career with the franchise. In 523 games, he has 68 goals, 82 assists, and 150 points. Although he never became a star, he certainly is a very dependable two-way forward who thrives on the penalty kill.
With Girgensons injury history, we sincerely hope that his current one doesn't result in him being moved to LTIR. Even if the Sabres are not going to be a playoff team, it's still better for them to have him in the lineup.
