Canadiens Place Forward On Waivers
The Montreal Canadiens have placed forward Alex Belzile on waivers.
As a 30-year-old, Belzile has had his first prolonged taste of NHL action with the Canadiens this season. In 11 games, he failed to record a point, but also sported an even rating. Perhaps a team in need of depth could claim him, but that certainly isn't definite.
Although it's hard not to feel bad for a player when they are placed on waivers, this also could be a sign that Montreal's roster is finally starting to get healthier. They have multiple players out, so don't be surprised to hear that more are on their way to returning.
If Belzile goes unclaimed, the Laval Rocket will certainly be happy to have him back. In 16 games with them this season, he has four goals and seven assists. He also recorded 14 points in 17 games with them last season, so he is capable of producing well at the AHL level.
Nevertheless, we'll now have to wait and see if a team decides to claim him. Here's to hoping we can see the 30-year-old "rookie" back in the NHL soon.
