Capitals' Orlov To Have Hearing
Washington Capitals defenseman Dmitry Orlov is set to have a hearing on Wednesday with NHL Player Safety for his knee-on-knee hit on Winnipeg Jets forward Nikolaj Ehlers.
It isn't surprising to see that Orlov now has a hearing for this play. Immediately following it, Ehlers was in clear pain and needed help to get off the ice. With that, it has already been announced that he will not play in Winnipeg's next contest and will likely miss more following it. At this juncture, he is still getting tests done to determine the severity of his injury.
Although Ehlers was injured following the play, Orlov did not receive a penalty from it. However, he may not now get away with it, as a hearing with NHL Player Safety normally leads to a suspension. When looking at how the Jets' winger is hurt from it, it makes it seem even more likely than not than he will be.
Alas, here's to hoping Ehlers' injury isn't too severe, and he will be able to return to the ice soon. We will now have to wait and see what comes from Orlov's hearing.
