Minnesota Wild Sign Forward To Extension
The Minnesota Wild have signed forward Jordan Greenway to a three-year, $9 million contract extension. It will begin during the 2022-23 campaign.
Greenway has become a very solid middle-six winger for the Wild. In 33 games this season, he has four goals, nine assists, and a plus-17 rating. His production has gone down a bit this year, however, as he had a 32-point campaign in 56 games last season. Perhaps with this new contract, he will find his old scoring touch from here.
However, even if it's been a tough year for him offensively, he still has been excellent defensively. The 6-foot-6 forward has blossomed into one of Minnesota's top penalty killers and also plays a very heavy game. This is made clear by his 82 hits already this season.
Although the Wild have a $12.7 million dead-cap charge next season for buying out Ryan Suter and Zach Parise. it's clear that they still feel comfortable keeping Greenway. It will be interesting to see how they handle their roster for next season. They have some decisions to make and even less money now to work with. Yet, even with this being so, this is a very good contract for both parties.
