Money On The Board: NHL's Best Bets for Jan.6/22

Welcome to the debut week of Money on the Board, a column where I will showcase the NHL's best bets for each game night and dive into where you should be sprinkling action on the board. This is purely just my take on the odds and I'm not in any way a financial or gambling advisor. I'm basically setting myself up to get blasted in our comments section but could potentially be helping some of you win some money. Let's hope more of option B.

Went 1 for 2 Opening Night, Tonight Let's Go 3 for 3

Not the perfect start I was looking for in the inaugural episode because someone decided to piss off Sidney Crosby late in the second period and the Penguins superstar took over the game against the Blues. Casey DeSmith did start but was pulled and Pittsburgh rallied. As expected the Maple Leafs took care of the Oilers and we're off to day 2. Let's take a look at Thursday's best bets:

Calgary Flames @ Tampa Bay Lightning

Proline + Odds:
Flames (2.55) Lightning (1.53):
The Lightning get ready to host the Flames and will be doing so with Nikita Kucherov returning to the lineup. While Tampa is excited to get back to full strength, turns out Steven Stamkos missed the morning skate and is a game-time decision. Regardless if Stamkos doesn't play or not, I would still lean on taking Tampa and their 11-3-3 record on home ice. The Flames are 5-4-1 in their last 10 games, averaging only 2.8 goals per game. Sprinkle Tampa tonight.

Pittsburgh Penguins @ Philadelphia Flyers

Proline + Odds:
Penguins (1.40) Flyers (3.00):
Huge number for a home underdog but considering all the injuries and COVID absences for the Flyers, my vote would be on taking Pittsburgh. They played last night but have won four in a row on the road and nine in a row overall. Tristan Jarry is expected to start and the Flyers will be without Claude Giroux, Sean Couturier, Travis Konecny, Ivan Provorov and the list goes on. They last played on November 4th, a 3-2 victory for the Pens. Sprinkle Pittsburgh tonight.

Florida Panthers @ Dallas Stars

Proline + Odds:
Panthers (1.72) Stars (2.15):
I have to admit I do love betting on home underdogs, and this time around it's no different. Sam Bennett is suspended, Sam Reinhart is on the COVID list and the Stars are basically at full strength now. They possess a 11-3-1 home record, compared to a 4-4-4 road record for the Panthers. This game scares me a little bit but I am leaning on the Stars. It's their first meeting of the season and I see a full complimented roster in Dallas getting the job done.
