Montreal Canadiens Claim Forward Off Waivers
The Montreal Canadiens have claimed forward Rem Pitlick off waivers from the Minnesota Wild.
When it was announced that the Wild placed Pitlick on waivers, it seemed inevitable that the 24-year-old would find a new home. Without much surprise, the 7-23-4 Montreal Canadiens were the team to give him just that.
The Canadiens are not only dealing with a lot of COVID-19 cases, but Pitlick is also a young forward who could help them during their inevitable rebuilding period. In 20 games this season as a member of the Wild, he had six goals and five helpers. Now, with the Canadiens, he should have the opportunity to receive a lot of playing time. Their forward depth is far weaker than Minnesota's. This could end up being beneficial for him.
This is actually the second time Pitlick has joined a team by a waiver claim this season. He originally began the year with the Nashville Predators, but did not appear in a regular-season game with the team. The Wild, of course, added him from there.
Alas, let's see how Pitlick performs with the Canadiens. Upon first glance, this looks like a good move for them, but especially if he's able to produce at a similar rate from here.
