Montreal Canadiens Lose Two More Players

The Montreal Canadiens have placed Kale Clague and Alex Belzile in COVID-19 protocol.

The Canadiens are continuing to have rotten luck, as this means a massive total of 24 players are currently in protocol. That's more players than in an NHL team's entire lineup.

After being claimed off waivers from the Los Angeles Kings, Clague has gotten into a decent chunk of action. In eight games with the Canadiens, he has a goal to go along with a minus-3 rating. He was off to a very solid start with the Kings this year, however, as he had five helpers in 11 games. The 23-year-old has the potential to produce well from the back end, but it hasn't happened just yet with the Canadiens. Perhaps that will change once he returns.

Belzile is a 30-year-old rookie, so naturally, it's hard not to root for the winger. In 11 games with the Canadiens this season, he has yet to record a point. During last season, however, he did appear in two games with the team - where he tallied an assist. He's had a very long journey in both the ECHL and AHL, so it would be great to see him get more time with the Canadiens once he leaves protocol.

The Canadiens do not have a game until January 12th when they take on the Boston Bruins. Thankfully, that leaves a good amount of time for more players to become available, but man, this is getting ridiculous.
