NHL Rumors: Islanders May Move Veteran Forward
According to Dan Rosen, we could see the New York Islanders move forward Josh Bailey by this trade deadline.
Rosen mentioned Bailey's name as a potential trade target for the Flames, as they are looking for a top-six winger. However, if made available, it seems rather probable that Calgary wouldn't be the only team calling the Islanders.
At this point of the season, the Islanders have a 14-13-6 record and trail the Boston Bruins by 14 points for the second Wild Card spot. However, they also have four games in hand, so they shouldn't be counted out just yet. They also have been showing true signs of redemption, as they have won seven out of their last 10 games, too. Yet, if the Islanders find themselves out of the playoff picture more as we get closer to the deadline, we could see Bailey moved.
In 28 games this season, Bailey has three goals, 15 assists, and a plus-1 rating. However, he's been heating up lately, as he has two goals and six assists over his last seven games. He can produce offense well but also can be utilized on the penalty kill.
If Bailey does get moved, it will be a bit strange to see him in a different jersey. In 947 career games over 14 seasons with the team, he has 165 goals, 364 assists, and 529 points. We will have to wait and see where the veteran winger finishes the season after this development.
