NHL Rumors: Ottawa Senators Discussing Multiple Trades
The Ottawa Senators were expecting a better season in 2021-22 and now have to turn their attention to making some deals before the trade deadline to cash in on some assets.
Belief is the Senators are talking to several playoff bound teams about their rentals/pending free agents. Ottawa is loaded with players on expiring contracts and certainly have some interesting names for other teams. Some of the Sens rumored to be in trade talks include forwards Nick Paul, Tyler Ennis, Chris Tierney, Zach Sanford, defenseman Nick Holden and goaltender Anton Forsberg.

The team also has veteran defenseman Michael Del Zotto in the minors who could draw interest on the trade market. While ownership thought the team was more advanced than they really were, the Senators need to move on from some of these veterans and give the younger players more ice time to end off this season. They then have a bunch of draft picks in 2022, including six in the first three rounds and that's not including what they could stock pile from deadline trades.
Keep an eye on the Senators, they also have cap space that other teams crave and could be used as a third-team to facilitate some other deals. This would be a great way to cash in and acquire some more draft picks or prospects for helping out other general managers.
