NHL Rumors: Rangers Interested In Kraken Forward

According to Arthur Staple, the New York Rangers could pursue Seattle Kraken forward Calle Jarnkrok for their third line.

Although Jarnkrok is not the flashiest of rental candidates available, he should have plenty of suitors besides the Rangers. He has the ability to provide very solid secondary scoring and also only carries a very affordable $2 million cap hit.

After starting the season with zero points in 12 games, he has since regrouped marvelously. Over his last 18 games, he scored seven goals and recorded 14 points. That is more in the line with the kind of production that he is capable of. Keep in mind, he just had a 28-point campaign in 49 games with the Nashville Predators just last season. If he can keep this pace up, he should be able to net the Kraken back a solid return.

The Rangers are looking for some help in the bottom six, and this has been true since Sammy Blais' season-ending injury. Although he doesn't play as physically as him, Jarnkrok does possess more of a scoring touch. That's not a bad thing come playoff time.

The Rangers won't be the last team to be linked to Jarnkrok this trade deadline season, so we'll have to wait and see if he ends up on the Blueshirts.
