Oilers Place Defenseman On Waivers
The Edmonton Oilers have placed defenseman William Lagesson on waivers.
Lagesson has primarily been used as a depth defenseman by the Oilers, but with them starting to get healthier, it appears that he has become the odd man out. In 10 games this season with the team, he has recorded two assists and sports a minus-1 rating. He also has played in 11 contests with the Bakersfield Condors this campaign, where he also had two assists.
Lagesson has made appearances with the Oilers over each of the last three seasons, but never for a long amount of time. In 37 career NHL games with the team, the 25-year-old has four assists. If claimed by another team, perhaps he will be given more of a chance to play regularly.
When looking at all of the injuries going around the league, we could see a team take a chance on Lagesson. It's never a bad thing to add depth to the back end, and he could be an intriguing addition for a rebuilding squad.
Nevertheless, we will find out on Wednesday afternoon if Lagesson will have a new home or be heading back to Bakersfield.
