Oilers Place Forward On Waivers
The Edmonton Oilers have placed forward Colton Sceviour on waivers.
During the offseason, Sceviour signed a professional tryout contract with the Oilers and earned himself a one-year deal after training camp. Yet, now in late January, the 32-year-old winger finds himself on waivers. This is likely in response to the Oilers signing forward Evander Kane.
In 30 games this season with the Oilers, Sceviour has two goals, three assists, and a minus-3 rating. He hasn't necessarily been providing the decent depth scoring he's known for, so this may not be the most surprising of decisions by Edmonton. However, when looking at the fact that he carries just a $750,000 cap hit, he could still be claimed. Teams are always looking for depth and he has a good amount of overall experience, too.
In 530 career games between the Dallas Stars, Florida Panthers, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Oilers, Sceviour has 66 goals, 90 assists, and 156 points. We shall find out tomorrow if he will end up joining the fifth NHL team.
