Oilers Provide Update On Ryan Nugent-Hopkins
According to Edmonton Oilers head coach Dave Tippett, the team is optimistic that forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins will begin skating again next week.
Nugent-Hopkins has not played since December 31st's contest against the New Jersey Devils. With the Oilers struggling so mightily right now, it's good news that RNH is making progress with his injury. The Oilers need as much help as they can get to move past their terrible stretch of recent play.
In 30 games this season, Nugent-Hopkins has three goals and 23 assists. He's been overshadowed by Edmonton's two superstars, but it's still been quite a strong year for the 2011 first overall pick, too. This is promising to see, as he of course signed an eight-year, $41 million contract with the team over the summer.
Alas, here's to hoping Nugent-Hopkins continues to make progress. His offensive contributions and solid defensive play is missed immensely by the Oilers right now.
