Panthers' Sam Bennett Suspended For Three Games
Florida Panthers forward Sam Bennett has been suspended three games for his illegal check to the head on Montreal Canadiens forward Cedric Paquette.
When looking at Bennett's hit, there's no question that he makes direct contact with Paquette's head. Following the play, the latter stayed down on the ice and was unable to return to the game. This certainly played a role in Bennett receiving this long of a suspension.
Ultimately, it's hard to argue against NHL Player Safety's decision on this one. It was an entirely unnecessary hit from Bennett. He also has been suspended previously, so this isn't his first rodeo.
The Panthers and Canadiens play next on March 24th, so don't be surprised to see Bennett have to answer the bell.
