Penguins Sign Veteran Forward To Extension
The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed Jeff Carter to a two-year extension. It will carry an average annual value of $3.125 million and have a full no-movement clause during each year.
Since Carter was acquired by the Penguins from the Los Angeles Kings, he's been an excellent addition. In 36 games this season, he has 12 goals to go along with 26 total points. This kind of production comes after he had nine goals and two helpers in his first 14 games with the team last season. Having him in the lineup has clearly been benefitting Pittsburgh a lot.
Even at 37 years old, Carter isn't showing any signs of slowing down. He is perfectly placed as Pittsburgh's third-line center and now they will have him for two more years after this one. He provides them with very solid secondary scoring and is a nice part of their power play, too.
Carter noted earlier this month that he wants to play for a few more years and now with this contract, he will do just that. It's hard not to feel happy for the veteran forward.
