Sabres' Aaron Dell To Have Hearing
Buffalo Sabres goaltender Aaron Dell is set to have a hearing with NHL Player Safety for Interference on Ottawa Senators forward Drake Batherson.
This isn't surprising to hear at all. This was entirely unnecessary and dirty from Dell. When looking at the play, it's clear that Batherson did not have the puck and was trying to forecheck. Due to this, he had no reason to believe he would be hit by Dell.
Furthermore, following the game, Senators head coach D.J. Smith noted that Batherson would be out long term because of the hit. Because of this, he also will not be participating in his first All-Star Game now.
Dell showed earlier this month that he isn't afraid to take the body when out of his net. He received a two-minute Interference penalty in a game against the Nashville Predators after he did the same thing to forward Eeli Tolvanen.
Due to the expected severity of Batherson's injury and how dirty this play was, it seems that a suspension could be on the way for Dell. Let's see if it comes to fruition.
