Video: Capitals' Nic Dowd Scores Fantastic Goal
In Sunday's contest against the New Jersey Devils, Washington Capitals forward Nic Dowd scored a goal to remember. The 31-year-old center would flip the puck up to himself and then bat it in.
Dowd isn't necessarily known for making plays like this, so it was great to see. The Alabama native just signed a three-year, $3.9 million extension in November, so the Capitals have to feeling even happier about it after a goal like this.
Over the last few seasons, Dowd has emerged into a very solid bottom-six forward. He's off to an excellent start this campaign, as he has five goals and nine points in 21 games. He also scored 11 goals and had 15 points in 56 contests last season.
Although Dowd scored this cool goal, the Capitals would fall to the Devils in overtime by a 4-3 final score. With this, Washington now has a 20-6-8 record, while the Devils are 13-15-5.
