Video: Erik Gudbranson's Perfect Pass Leads To Flames Goal
Erik Gudbranson isn't known for his offensive ability, but he did show some on Friday night. The 30-year-old defenseman made a beautiful stretch pass from behind his net to Johnny Gaudreau. From here, the star winger would score on the breakaway.
Gudbranson now has six assists in 33 games on the season. He already has passed the four points in 45 games he had last campaign between the Ottawa Senators and Nashville Predators. Overall, he's been a serviceable bottom-pair defenseman for the Flames. The 6-foot-5 veteran also has remained very physical, as evidenced by his 53 hits and 35 penalty minutes.
However, this game would end up being a hard one for the Flames, as they lost to the Carolina Hurricanes by a 6-3 final score. With this loss, they now have a 17-10-6 record and are third in the Pacific Division. The Hurricanes, on the other hand, are remaining very hot. They are 24-7-1 and first in the Metropolitan Division.
Even with the loss, Gudbranson deserves some praise for this sweet helper.
