Video: Evander Kane Scores First Goal With Oilers
Evander Kane is starting his tenure with the Edmonton Oilers on the right foot. During the first period of Saturday's game against the Montreal Canadiens, the 30-year-old scored his first goal as an Oiler with a sweet tip in front.
Although Kane certainly has been the subject of controversy, the Oilers still were willing to take a chance on him with a one-year deal. His goal-scoring ability is a major reason behind this. In 56 games last season with the San Jose Sharks, he had 22 goals to go along with 49 total points. With Edmonton going through a massive down period, they needed a spark, and Kane will provide them with that if he keeps this up.
At this point of the season, the Oilers have a 21-16-2 record and are sixth in the Pacific Division. Although they are not out of the playoff hunt, it is important to remember that they were once at the top of the division. However, they also have won their last three games and may start showing true signs of turning this ship around.
Nevertheless, just over 11 minutes into his tenure, Kane scored his first with the Oilers. If he keeps this up and doesn't cause drama, general manager Ken Holland will certainly be happy about this signing.
