Video: Sidney Crosby Records Hat Trick
In Friday's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets, Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby recorded his twelfth career hat trick.
Although his third goal was an empty-netter, it was certainly an entertaining one to watch. The future Hockey Hall of Famer attempted to pass the puck to Bryan Rust. Although his pass was off the mark, it turned into a bank and found its way into the net. It's safe to say it worked out for him.
After returning from injury, Crosby began this season a bit cold. However, he has since picked up his play significantly, as he now has 10 goals and 31 points in 28 contests. With that, he eight points over his last four games.
The Penguins went on to defeat the Blue Jackets by a 5-2 final score. With this, they have improved to 25-10-2 and are now third place in the Metropolitan Division. Columbus, on the other hand, has fallen to 18-19-1.
