Video: Washington Capitals Carl Hagelin Scores Dreaded Own Goal
The Washington Capitals were in tough against the Minnesota Wild on Saturday night and that was before some of their players starting scoring on their own net.
Capitals forward Carl Hagelin was trying to play the puck back to his d-man while the Caps were on a delayed man advantage and wouldn't you know it was a perfect pass. Just happened to be for the other team as the puck went soaring down the ice and into the yawning cage.
Washington was up 2-0 at the time and wouldn't you know, the Wild came back to tie the game with less than a minute left in the third period and ended up winning in a shootout. Worth noting, Marcus Foligno of the Wild got credit for Hagelin's blunder. Take a look:
THANKS VERY MUCH CARL!
This is incredible: Zach Fucale sets a record for longest streak without allowing a goal to start an NHL career. First-ever goal against him is while he's on the bench for an extra attacker 🤯 https://t.co/Blqsxtb6Ps
