After being traded to the Golden Knights, Eichel of course had artificial disk replacement surgery in November. He was given an expected recovery time of three months, and we are now there. If Eichel is officially cleared for contact after the break, it will be another huge step in his progression. He has been practicing with the team, too.
Although Eichel is making progress, the Golden Knights absolutely cannot rush him back. They know this, of course, but it's extremely important given the nature of his injury. Although it will be fantastic for them to finally land their legitimate first-line center, they have to ensure that he's okay to go. At this time, Vegas has a 27-16-3 record and is first in the Pacific Division, so they have been fine without him.
However, once Eichel does return, it will inevitably force the Golden Knights to clear up some cap space. Therefore, we should be seeing some trades from them shortly. As for the players they will be moving, we will have to wait and see on that front.
