Blue Jackets Goaltender Done For The Season

Columbus Blue Jackets goaltender Daniil Tarasov will miss the rest of this season due to undergoing hip surgery.

Tarasov has been sidelined since the beginning of 2022. However, even with this being the case, it is still hard to hear that the youngster has officially been ruled out for the rest of the campaign. Furthermore, both Elvis Merzlikins and Joonas Korpisalo are out at the moment, so they will have to continue rolling with Jean-Francois Berube until one of them comes back.

Tarasov played his first four NHL games at the NHL level this season and looked very good in the process. Although he had a 0-2-0 record during it, he also sported a very solid 2.40 goals-against average and .937 save percentage. The potential to become an important goaltender for the Blue Jackets is certainly there. Yet, that will now have to be put on pause due to his current injury.

Alas, here's to hoping that the 22-year-old can build on his solid play once he returns to the ice next season.
