Blues Sign Young Forward To Contract Extension

The St. Louis Blues have signed Logan Brown to a one-year, $750,000 contract extension. It is also a one-way deal.

The Blues acquired Brown from the Ottawa Senators in exchange for Zach Sanford back in September. The 2016 first-round pick was struggling to cement himself as an NHL regular with the Senators and had become disgruntled with the organization in the process. Since the trade, the 6-foot-6 forward has done well with the change of scenery.

In 17 games so far with the Blues, he has three goals, three assists, and a minus-2 rating. Although he isn't taking the league by storm, he is looking like a legitimate bottom-six forward. He also was very effective in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Springfield Thunderbirds. In 19 games with them, he has six goals and 11 assists.

When looking at the cap hit Brown will have next season, this certainly could turn out to be a great deal for the Blues. He is showing signs of improvement this season and could be a mainstay in their bottom six from here. If not, he will be a depth forward at worst, and that's not a bad thing at all.
