Jack Eichel Set To Make Debut For Golden Knights
He's back! Jack Eichel will make his debut with the Vegas Golden Knights on Wednesday against the Colorado Avalanche, according to general manager Kelly McCrimmon.
This announcement comes shortly after the team placed captain Mark Stone on LTIR. This, in turn, allowed the Golden Knights to activate Eichel with ease, as Stone's $9.5 million cap hit is now off the books. Now, if Stone does not return for the remainder of the regular season, the Golden Knights won't have to move any salary out. This is because there is no salary cap come playoff time.
Eichel was traded to the Golden Knights from the Buffalo Sabres back in November. Shortly following the move, he was given permission by the organization to have artificial neck surgery. Now, after months of recovering, the star center is finally ready to get back into game action for the first time in almost a whole year.
With this news, the Golden Knights will finally have the first-line center that they have needed. In 375 career games with the Sabres, Eichel had 139 goals, 216 assists, and 355 points. Now, he will have the chance to build on those numbers, but as a member of the Golden Knights.
