Maple Leafs Call Up Top Prospect
The Toronto Maple Leafs have called up Nick Robertson from the Toronto Marlies.
This is a noteworthy development for two different reasons. First, Robertson is viewed among the Maple Leafs' top prospects, so eyes will naturally be on him when he gets into game action. Furthermore, it's trade deadline season, so some may wonder if this is being done to showcase the 20-year-old forward. Either way, he is now with the Leafs.
It's been an injury-plagued season for Robertson, but when he has played, he has thrived. In nine games with the Marlies this campaign, he has three goals and five assists. This comes after he had a 16-point campaign with the team last season. Thus, he is once again being productive at the AHL level. It will be intriguing to see how much it translate to the NHL level from here.
Robertson famously made his debut with the team during the 2020 postseason. In four contests, he had a goal. He also played in six games with the Leafs last season and recorded an assist. Now, he will be aiming to build on these numbers during his call-up.
