NHL Announces Big Events For Next Season
Gary Bettman announced some important details about next year's Winter Classic, All-Star Game, and Stadium Series. With that, the league will also be bringing back the Global Series.
The 2023 Winter Classic will once again take place at Fenway Park. The Boston Bruins will of course be hosting it, and this is the first time it's been played there since 2010. When looking at how well the first contest was there, it seemed inevitable that there would be another outdoor game there in the future. Now, there in fact will be. Bettman, however, did not reveal Boston's opponent.
The 2023 All-Star Game will be hosted by the Florida Panthers. This is the second time in their history where they held the event, as they did back in 2003. With the team being legitimate Stanley Cup contenders, it feels like a good time for them to host an event. It should help get the attention of more fans. Furthermore, who doesn't love warm weather during the winter?
Next season's Stadium Series will be held at Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh, North Carolina. Due to this, the Carolina Hurricanes will of course be playing in it. At this time, an opponent hasn't been revealed, but we will find out soon. This will be Carolina's first outdoor game, so it certainly is a big event for the franchise.
As for the Global Series, games are set to be played in the Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, and Switzerland. The lucky teams for it haven't been announced yet, but it also should make for some entertaining hockey.
