NHL Rumors: 2 Seattle Kraken Players Being Shopped on Trade Market

The Seattle Kraken continue to be one of the busiest teams off the ice as reports have their phones ringing off the hook regarding some of their pending free agents. General manager Ron Francis will have some big decisions to make leading up to the March 21 trade deadline and let's take a look at a couple of Kraken players who have been drawing the most trade interest:

Calle Jarnkrok

The long-time Nashville Predator could very well be heading back to 'Smashville' before the deadline as the Predators would love to get Calle Jarnkrok back in their mix. The team has enjoyed the resurgence of Matt Duchene and Ryan Johansen down the middle and Jarnkrok would provide them with some more depth on the wing. He's enjoyed an up and down season with the Kraken as he was pointless for the first few weeks but has since posted 19 points on the season in 37 appearances. Jarnkrok is making $2 million on the cap but money is not an issue for the Preds as they have almost $20 million in cap space this season. Expect to see a prospect and mid-level draft pick heading to Seattle if this deal is finalized.

Mark Giordano

When the Seattle Kraken selected Mark Giordano as their first ever captain in franchise history several people around the game questioned their decision. While he's certainly a leader on and off the ice, it was his service time that came into question. It's been rumored since day one in Seattle that 'Gio' preferred to be back in Calgary and now it seems like that could be happening sooner than later. The Flames are open to the reunion but won't be moving any high picks or top prospects to make it happen. The veteran blueliner was recently asked about a trade and mentioned he loves his team in Seattle but understands it's a business.

The New York Rangers have also been linked to Giordano, as have the Florida Panthers. At this point it's tough to say where he ends up, it's just known across the league he's likely out of Seattle before late March. Francis continues to work the phones and expect a deal to be finalized within the next few weeks.
